Our final full day. We said goodby to our table mate Rob at breakfast because he is flying out today. It will be just us for supper tonight and will not be the same without his company. It was pouring rain and a bit chilly, so I asked what the craft schedule was for the lodge. They looked at me like I was crazy. One of the other fisher people pretended to take my temperature, I got the message, we fish regardless. We took our time getting down to the docks (because you know- Rain!) and we arrived we found out that Rob has already brought in a fish for us to have with our supper. I had mentioned that I would enjoy fresh fish for my last meal at the lake and Rob left us one as a parting gift. Thank you Rob- it was delicious!! We borrowed a fish finder and headed back to Andrew’s spot. There were 2 other boats there, word was out about our success yesterday!! We starting catching all over again. It was as frenzied as the day before except this time were freezing and soaking. I caught 3, (1 pike, 2 walleye), Max got 4 walleye and Chris got 10ish. Max forgot the words “tackle box” and asked us to pass him his “box of fishes”. This is a sign of how tired we were.
Chris caught the cutest little walleye I have ever seen!!
On our way back to the lodge Chris was taking a panoramic video of the view from the bow of the boat. I thought he was taking a picture, so I smiled and smiled and smiled and he was still pointing the camera at me so I took a page out of my dad’s book and gave him the finger. Then I realized it was a video. So I asked him for a re-do. In his second take, just as he was panning the camera past Max, Max took a page out of his grandpa’s book and gave him the finger. Max then said to me, I think dad is going to need to take another video and then he burst out laughing. Below is the second video, keep your eyes on Max!
We were soaked to the bone and the boat was full of water so we headed back around noon. We were freezing!!!!! Max and Cathy napped for 2 hours. It was GLORIOUS! Finally, relaxing time.
Supper was wonderful (fresh fish- thanks again Rob!!) and then we headed back out on the lake. We went to Wolf Rock and howled for the wolf pack and Max got all of the wolves to answer back. It was crazy!!
We fished around (no success) and headed to Fire Island. Max and Chris like to fish near what they call “the two rocks” which is obviously a pile of three rocks at the shore. The only fish caught on our last night was caught by Chris. It was 1 inch smaller than the biggest fish caught so far (by Max), but it was still big enough to be a trophy. It was a 24 inch walleye.
We headed in while the sun was setting. We then returned to our cabin, tired, sore and thrilled. We stumbled around trying to sort out our messy stuff and pack up.
