What a fantastic day. We started with a LONG SLEEP IN. It was glorious. We all really needed it. We then had a breakfast/brunch at a diner beside our hotel. We finished our bacon and eggs and noticed the farmers market is happening today, and we shopped for locally made items and made several fantastic finds. Tyson has said it was his favourite town so far, he does love to shop, that boy is after my own heart!! We made a pit stop back in our room to leave our many treasures and then hit the open road.

We started off without a map (because lets be honest, I barely read it to begin with) and just drove. Mostly aimlessly, but we tried to stay to the coast line and we went west. First thing we saw was a Cows Creamery, which is pretty famous for their ice cream and t-shirts. We picked up some of both.

We then found the oldest town on P.E.I. and parked on the pier and walked around.

We went on to the town of Avonlea, which Chris warned me was a bit of a tourist trap, but it was just my kind of trap. Cute little boutiquey shops, one of which was where we found the sign of the day! (You like my little teaser to keep you reading?). And I found a winter hat, with a big giant pom on top!

We then decided to see the ocean. We went to a National Park and the sights were beautiful.

We told the kids they could wear their sandals into the water, but in pretty short order they were in up to their waists. We decided it wouldn’t be fair to take them to the ocean and not let them swim, so they took off their shirts and went for it. They both say it was a highlight of the trip so far. Chris and I went in but the cold kept us from going past our ankles.

We went back to Charlottetown and the kids stayed in the room and had left over pizza and watched Netflix. Chris treated me to a couple of drinks and dinner in the hotel restaurant. I had pistachio encrusted halibut and Chris had Seafood Linguine. We shared a butter tart cheesecake for dessert. It was so quiet and peaceful. Oops- I meant delicious. #noguilt #stopmakingmecrazyandyoucanhaveahotmealtoo. 🙂

Sign of the Day-

Tomorrow is more touring around- although we are hoping to go fishing tomorrow evening, weather depending so we will see!

Good night everyone!

  1. Jerry and I discovered The Great Canadian Soap Company on the north shore of PEI. It’s a little family-run goat farm and theirs is the only soap I’ve used since 2016……I’m in Vancouver apartment-hunting with Rae right now and I brought a bar with me!

    1. We drove by there today! I wish I had known. The boys made a lot of comments about what part of the goat becomes soap- but we shut it down by pointing out it is likely the milk.
