B.C. to Alberta
We had a very awesome and very busy day. We travelled from Golden B.C. to Medicine Hat, Alberta and worked hard to be somewhere cool when the eclipse happened. We were at the top of the mountain at Lake Louise- not too bad!! Due to all his planning Chris was aware of this event and had purchased solar eclipse glasses for us to wear. They came in a pack of 4, so I was looking for a kid to give the fourth pair to, but in the end it was a group of gondola staff who were so so so excited about the eclipse I couldn’t help giving them our spare pair. They were pretty excited and almost forgot to help us on the chair lift. We watched the eclipse on the mountain top over looking Lake Louise until the clouds rolled in then enjoyed the view for a bit, but we didn’t last long because of the cold temp at the top, we headed down in an open chair lift and were almost completely frozen when we hit the bottom.
From there we headed east and out of BC 🙁 We had spent more time than planned at the Mountain so we grabbed a couple of sandwiches and ate as we drove on to Dinosaur Provincial Park on the other side of Calgary. We arrived (thanks to an unplanned/forgotten time zone) 5 minutes before the information center closed, but thankfully the park stayed open and we wondered around on a “self guided” tour. It was like a mini grand canyon.
While taking this pic (above or beside) Max said “wait for the wind to pick up my hair.” Yep. time for a hair cut.
We drove on to Medicine Hat and had a late dinner at the cheese cake café.
