Vancouver to Golden

It is a driving day. We got off to a pretty slow start due to how much fun we had last night  but we eventually made it out of the hotel.

Cathy’s brother John sent a link to a pretty cool looking toy store that was kind of on our way so we were going to stop in to check it out but the “quick visit” took on a life of its own because it was the coolest toy store ever. If Chris and Max were to set up a toy store, this is what they would want it to look like.

It was nice to see Chris getting into the shopping mood, I think this is the first shopping he has done this whole trip.

After the toy store we celebrated with a great lunch at a White Spot. When we saw the first White Spot restaurant we thought what a weird name for a restaurant, but then we saw about 3o more so we decided we better check it out. The burgers were great, and Max loved being a pirate kid. 🙂

We went through Kamloops and are happy to see a lot of the smoke has lifted. We were able to see the semi-arid-desert that surrounds Kamloops- it is a beautiful spot and we are happy for the people who live there.

We drove, drove, drove. Cathy did something her mother has never done- which is drive through Revelstoke without touring the dam. Lynda quite famously made Cathy and family tour this same dam on multiple different trips out West. The curse is broken!

Due to our late start and the toy store we had to drive for the first time at night. Night time driving in the mountains isn’t fun- especially with the supper strong smoke smell. But- we safely made it to Golden- where we immediately crashed (and wrote this blog!).
