Our final day on Prince Edward Island. We started off with a swim and a hot tub at the hotel and it was refreshing. We then made oatmeal in our room for breakfast. Including something called “Dino-Egg Oatmeal”, which has little eggs in it and when you add water the eggs hatch and become little dinosaur candy. Not the oatmeal from my childhood, by Ty seemed to like it. 🙂
It was overcast and rainy but we enjoyed driving around and seeing all of the harbours and potato fields. The boys spent some time Pokémon-ing (insert eye roll here) and in between rain showers we walked a couple of different beaches and collected sea glass and stones.
We found an out of the way place for a late afternoon lunch. As Chris was writing an email to cancel the fishing trip because of the weather… The rain stopped and the clouds broke their grey din and the sun shone through for the first time that day. So we didn’t cancel and thank goodness for that.
We had long ago planned this sunset fishing expedition with Aiden’s Deep See Fishing, in North Rustico. We had a great time! It started with some fast and frenzied Mackerel fishing, which the crew on board all said wasn’t fishing, it was just catching. In these photo’s they all have a fish on!
The boys say they both caught over 20 Mackeral each. But no one is counting and it is NOT A COMPETITION. {but Chris won…}
We then moved to deeper waters with the hope of finding cod. We didn’t find any cod but Chris was the first on the boat with a catch- and it was an Eel. Ty followed up by catching a Skull Fin???. Ugly fish! Both were thrown back to be caught another day. Look at that sunshine!
It was such a beautiful boat ride and we were well taken care of by our crew. They even let Max and Ty take a turn in the Captain’s Chair. They both seemed to have loved driving the boat.
After our fishing trip we had a late dinner at my favourite restaurant so far. We were right on the pier, the food was amazing, and the restaurant was all barn boards and white lights. So lovely.
We returned to our hotel rooms and passed out! Big day tomorrow- the drive to Quebec City!
Song of the Day- Ketchup, by Stompin’ Tom.
Sign of the Day-
Quote of the day- “Good thing we know you are on a boat!” It was a text from Ty’s dad. He has an app that lets him see where I am (geographically, not emotionally) and this is what it showed him.
Good Night Everyone!
I just can’t seem to spot the lifejackets? But I guess you don’t need them in the ocean? 🧐
There was a sign by the (3) lifejackets that said “feel free to use but please don’t lose.”
Beautiful pics did you get some lobster
We had some in Nova Scotia- it was a big hit!
Hi, Mogwells and Ty. Looks like you are having a great time! Just wanted to say nice catches, and your Mogblog is very well written. Wishing you all the best on the rest of your trip. Sincerely Jeremy
Thanks Jer! Glad you like it.
Hey Cathy and family! Enjoying your blog and I laugh at your jokes too😜 Keep the posts coming, this is quite an adventure! We’re headed East in August….anything you thought was a must see?
Thanks Steph for laughing at my jokes! There have been so many highlights it’s hard to say. For sure we loved the Hopewell Rocks at the Bay of Fundy. We also loved everything PEI. We wished we had more days for beach combing sea glass and just absorbing the awesomeness of the ocean. Also, I have not been to Quebec City since my grade 8 trip, it is also completely awesome. I don’t know why we don’t come here more often. For sure we will be returning.
