After months of discussion and negotiation we had agreed on another family vacation. Chris and Max must of used some Jedi mind tricks on me because I agreed to a fishing trip. I do love Northern Ontario and so I imagined myself reclining on a boat reading and watching for wildlife while Chris and Max did a bit of fishing. It was agreed that we needed to go all in, not just a shack on a lake- I wanted flush toilets and prepared meals. Chris did the research (as always) and booked us in for a week at Esnagami Wilderness Lodge, which is a fly-in fishing lodge. We had a VERY long drive north (about 13 hours) and then a float plane that would fly us in to the lodge. Chris explained to me that three of us couldn’t possible go fishing with any fewer than 7 rods and so much tackle and gear it almost wouldn’t fit in my car. A bit inconsistent, because he also believes in only bringing carry on luggage for all other trips, but having never been one for fishing I couldn’t really argue.

Finally day one arrived and we left home at 5:36am. Most impressive was Max, who was able to get up, pack our lunch, get dressed and get in the car all without really waking up. He didn’t wake up until we stopped for McDs breakfast in North Bay. He then slept until we had our picnic lunch some where north of Englehart. We did take a de-tour through Englehart. My Granny lived there and I enjoyed seeing the town I have so many great memories from. We waved to the Polar Bear in Cochrane and loved the lakes around Long Lac. We spent the night at the Inn Between Two Bridges, and were very surprized to see it was surrounded by lakes, lol. We had a delicious dinner and then crashed for the night.
